Modeling and acting are two related fields. If you want to become, a model, you need to have a little bit of acting talent. When I’m saying acting talent I’m not referring to interpreting a part in a play. I am referring to the facial expressions and the body language which you must master in order to become a top model. Modeling is not about simply posing and waiting for some photographer to take a picture of you. If you look through a modeling catalogue you will notice that all the models have different expressions. Some look sexy, some dangerous, some look helpless and others dominant and confident. Professional modeling starts with the client’s need and their willingness to pay. Modeling with out paying clients is just a hobby or someone trying to rip you off. Having the right look and talent is what you inherited genetically and there is not much you can do to change that. The rest is where being a professional model comes in – knowing what to do and how to market yourself. When a project calls for someone attractive to stand next to a new product, the person who can constantly look good in front of the camera, show the emotional expression that is needed on cue, show up on time and leave on time and in so many other ways make the shoot go quickly, efficiently, and successfully, is the person who will get the job.
That is why auditions for modeling and acting are related. A model must know how to imitate a stance and how to make it convincing, just like an actor does when he or she is playing a role in a production. Becoming a model requires a special something. It is not just about good looks, although this is very important too, but about attitude and style. There are many beautiful women and men out there, but not all of them can become a model.
If you want to become a model, you are probably in search of modeling auditions. These are not very hard to come by, but succeeding at them however, requires a lot of effort and sacrifices. What is expected from a model? First of all you must have a fit body and a pretty face. Second, you must be a sociable person, easy to work with, funny and entertaining.
Third, a model must be a professional. As I’ve already mentioned from the begging, modeling is a serious thing, so make sure you are giving 100%!
You can’t do much about your face, but you can diet and maintain a fit body. Some modeling agencies will require you to have a certain height and weight so make sure you maintain your body weight in the given patterns. Make sure you are sociable! When you go to free modeling auditions, remember to smile a lot and to be polite and friendly with everybody.
Attitude is also very important. You need to have confidence if you want to be taken serious. IF you are shy, you must do everything you can to get over your inhibition and be as stylish, sexy and powerful as you can. When you walk the catwalk, do it with grace and style and you’ll surely make a good impression!
